TY Enterprise

The Student Enterprise Programme

The Student Enterprise Programme is an initiative run by the Network of Local Enterprise Offices of Ireland, is Ireland’s largest and most successful student enterprise programme with over 26,000 second level students taking part each year.

Students from 1st year to 6th year get to set up and run their own business and find out what it’s really like to be an entrepreneur by taking part in this 8 month long enterprise education learning programme. There are three categories: Junior (1st year students), Intermediate (2nd/3rd year students) and Senior (4th, 5th,6th year, LCA, LCVP and Youth Reach).

In 2022, Largy had two winners in the regional competition. Holly Agnew and Rebecca Murphy from TY both won prizes in the competition. Holly won 'Best Presentation' with her company Sweet Sensations and Rebecca won Runner Up in the 'Innovation Awards'.

DCU Intergenerational Awards

Congratulations to Rachel Cooper who won an Intergenerational Award, in a competition led by the Age-Friendly University Office in Dublin City University.  Rachel’s company, cozy hats makes heatable hats that contain heat bags made from rivet wheat grains to keep the head and ears warm throughout the day and has a lavender scent that is used to reduce anxiety. Well done to our prize winners and also to the many other mini companies that our TY students developed throughout the year.

Largy's Dragons Den

Adrian Kelly, a past student of Largy College and a successful solicitor and businessman is hosting a number of talks for TY’s throughout the year, educating students on the vehicles used to bring products to market and how to integrate finance into business. A competition has been organised for students to write a basic business plan. A number of successful students will then be selected to present their business plan and answer questions on a Dragons Den night in Largy College, at the end of May. TY Students are also working on mini companies in their Enterprise module and are working towards entering the Local Enterprise Office Monaghan - Student Enterprise Programme Competition. We wish all TY students the very best of luck with their business endeavours. Watch this space to see the next Bill Gates!
