U19 Girls -North East Regional Champions and Bronze All Ireland Medalists

In an excellent display of talent, resilience, and determination, the U19 Girls Basketball team won the North East Regional Cup and secured their place in the All Ireland Playoffs

After a comfortable victory in the Quarter Final, their resilience was put to the test in the Semi Final, where they narrowly missed out on a place in the final, falling short by three points. Despite the close defeat, the team's achievement of winning a bronze All Ireland Medal at the National Basketball Arena in Dublin stands as a fantastic accomplishment. This achievement is a testament to the team's exceptional hard work, dedication, and drive that they consistently demonstrated throughout the season.

A special commendation is for the team's captain, Laura McFarland, whose exceptional leadership qualities have been a guiding force for her teammates. Laura’s ability to inspire and motivate, coupled with outstanding talent on the court, has undoubtedly contributed to the team's success this season.

Well done to each and every player on the squad – Niamh McCarville, Mollie Beggan (3rd Year), Karyn McGinn, Fausta Peciulyte, Dearbhla Quigley, Cliodhna Greenan (4th Year), Amy Jo Kierans, Rebecca Brady and Katie McDonald (5th Year). Finally, a heartfelt salute to our Leaving Cert players, Laura McFarland, Dearbhla Smyth, Eabha Quigley, and Mairead Cusack, who have shown unwavering dedication to school basketball throughout their six years at Largy College. As they embark on the next chapter of their lives, they will undoubtedly be missed on the court next season.

The fought difficult matches in both the Quarter Final against St Olivers and in the Semi Final against Colaiste Na hinse to proceed to the Final. The final against Sacred Heart Drogheda was a challenging match with a tight scoreline throughout the four quarters. The Girls showed resilience and drive as they worked as a team, to win the match 52 to 46 points. A special mention to our outstanding Captain, Laura McFarland, who has consistently led her team with composure and focus. Laura has also been our top scorer of the season, scoring 44 points in the final. Well done girls and we look forward to seeing you playing in the All Irelands.

U19 Champs

Our TY Future Leaders Class organised a Gaelic Blitz for our first year students. A fantastic display of skill, tacking, goal keeping and scoring was shown throughout. Tyrone and Dublin were the two teams to compete in the cup final. The final came right down to the wire, well done to Dublin who came out on top after a penalty shoot out.
A huge thank you to our Future Leaders who organised the competition. The referees, managers, first aid, umpires and coordinators all displayed great leadership skills. A fantastic afternoon was had by all.
