As this school year draws to a close we can take time to stop and reflect on all of the success and achievements of our students over the last academic year. These successes have ranged from academic and sporting successes to extra-curricular achievements at national level.
We started the year with a solid set of Leaving Certificate results where 41% of our students achieved over 400 points and a number of our students achieved scholarships for their chosen university or college place. In December our annual talent show was again a great success and this was followed up with Largy College’s first ever school musical ‘Back to the 80s’ performed by our Transition Year students in the month of April. To our delight our Transition Year students took the Gold Award in the Young Social Innovators National Completion which had 7,500 participants. This is the second Gold Award our YSI students have won within the last 4 years – a testament to the hard work and expertise of their teacher Ms Sascha Cumiskey.
On the sporting front, this year has brought many successes ranging from our senior students winning 1st place at the ETB sports (Senior Shield) and our junior students coming 2nd. Many congratulations our Girls’ Cadet Basketball team winning the North East Regional Basketball Final and our u14 Girls’ Football Team winning their Ulster Final.
Finally it remains for me to wish our 3rd & 6th year students all the very best of luck in the upcoming state examinations. I would like to thank you, the parents and guardians for your ongoing support for all that we do here in Largy College. I wish you and your children a safe and enjoyable summer and I look forward to working with you in the year ahead.
